Mayor’s Message
It seems like yesterday I was planting my spring flowers and preparing for another sum-mer of seeing beautiful flowers and green grass. Well, I just pulled the many annual flow-ers from my flower beds, added mulch, and tilled them up to end the growing season.
I felt that the flowers around my neighborhood and town were exceptional this year. Our parks took on new looks as plants and bushes were planted and playground equipment was installed. However, a lot of that work will end now with the fall and winter seasons coming on.
Looking back I realized that there is a time and a season for everything. A time to plant and enjoy the beauty and a time to harvest and clean out the fading and wilting growth and make way for the new.
If we were to compare this to life in our city, we have experienced many great things in Lehi over the past season. We have new parks, new businesses are expected such as the outlet mall, restaurants, and the NSA will begin to build soon in our great city. These will all bring a breath of fresh air and give us something to look forward to.
We have done much by way of construction on our roads and have been planting the seeds for a beautiful spring. I appreciate the nice comments on Main Street from our good citizens who have tolerated much during this time.
With all the things going on it has plainly not been without challenges. Individuals have expressed their opposition in regards to several facets of our town.
I feel as though individuals and groups are creating contention to divide our great city. Contention never was and never will be an ally of progress. I understand that people have different opinions and we are entitled to them. However, I believe that our city can better progress with residents and leaders that praise and inspire, rather than criticize and contend. There are those among us that would rather lose a friend than an argu-ment. It’s okay to disagree, but do so without being disagreeable. I appreciate and respect a person that can take a stand, remain firm in their convictions, AND conduct them-selves with calm assurance under all circumstances.
We must not be manipulated or enraged by those who foster contention over the issues we face today. Find ways to be of influence and participate in honest discussions.
There is too much mudslinging and not enough planting of beautiful things to prosper our city. It’s time we put special interests aside, take off the gloves, and start planting and cleaning for a better and more unified city.
Politics are politics and as president Reagan stated, ―It’s the second oldest profession in the world, but it resembled the first. We don’t have to have dirt thrown- this is a big sand pile and we can all learn to play nice‖.
Citizens of Lehi, try to envision a place where residents come together to plant flowers and trees to make our city beautiful; with everyone working together, talking together and listening together for a common goal to make Lehi an even better place to live. Let’s do the best for Lehi, and our children’s futures. Let’s protect the values that we cherish and continue to make Lehi a place to come home to.
Mayor Bert Wilson

Volunteer Spirit is Strong in Lehi
"The Round-Up Celebration events and rodeo are also organized and run by volunteers. Our city celebration would not be a success without them, and I sincerely appreciate their efforts. The miniature floats are a unique part of Lehi’s Round-Up Parade; I thank those who built the floats and helped carry on this great tradition. I thank all the volunteers who helped at the rodeo and other events, the city employees for their assistance, the sponsors, and the celebration committee for all contributing to the success of our city celebration. It also takes citizens like you who support this tradition to make it a success. Hats off to Lehi City’s volunteers!"
